“ "It was a revelation, a pure moment of happiness."

Hi! I'm Concetta, 41 years old, mom of 3 kids and 2 grandkids. I live in Moselle, not far from the German border.

I've had fibromyalgia for a few years now, with a pretty late diagnosis after several years of medical wandering! Followed closely by cluster headaches that really topped it all off!

I've had some pretty serious surgeries over the last 10 years, which meant I had to stop working and was declared unfit; despite professional retraining, the surgeries were far too serious and my condition didn't allow me to hold a job!

In December 2025, I had my first pain management treatment, a week in the hospital with doctors and medication.

I was able to participate in various support groups with people with fibromyalgia like me, people with depression... we were all in the same boat!

And from there, we came to this famous topic: what activity do you do at home that relaxes you? For me, it was originally crochet, but with the hand and wrist pain, I had to stop.

A lady was coloring. At first, I chuckled a little, then she explained what it brought her, but strangely I didn't pay attention, it just wasn't my thing!

But in January, I stumbled upon some videos of girls posting ASMR coloring, and I thought, "Wow, that's so beautiful!" and strangely, the videos soothed me.

I started spending hours scrolling through TikTok, relaxing in front of videos. I didn't watch lives because I personally found them a bit tiresome.

Then I thought: "Why not try? Why couldn't I feel soothed by doing my own coloring?" and I dove in.

First order of acrylic markers. And yes, because I had watched so many videos that I knew what to get, what to avoid, etc. I was already well-versed!

While waiting for the order, I went to Cultura to see the books and how can I tell you... I was like a child! I could have bought everything that day, I was in another world.

The day my markers arrived, it was the same: pure wonder 😍 and then came the moment of the first coloring, that famous first one.

And how can I tell you that it was a revelation, a pure moment of happiness! Of course, it wasn't perfect, but I had an extraordinary time, in my own bubble, thinking of nothing else but applying myself, "having a blast" as some would say.

Anyway, my 11-year-old daughter followed me very closely and we have some great mother-daughter moments. Especially since I can no longer go out with her like before, so these are unique moments of sharing: we decide on color codes together, we laugh, we put on series, music, and we tell each other stories!

Unfortunately, I can't sit for very long because of my back surgeries, but just being able to forget about the illness, for me, is already a great victory!
